Quail + Blu - Home Design Studio Castle Rock, Colorado

I am so excited to be a part of the newest design studio in downtown Castle Rock, Colorado! I met Jen through the construction of our new home 2 years ago. Jen's husband Ryan was our general contractor and we quickly realized we had the same design aesthetic. Jen has an eye for design and unique details with a modern polished vibe you won't find at a run of the mill hardware or big box store. I love that her store is all encompassing of everything you need to refresh your home. From new lighting, hardware, cabinets, counters, tile, decor and furniture. So next time your in downtown Castle Rock be sure to stop in and check out all she has to offer!

April 9th-April 15th Custom Furniture Refinishing Projects Denver, Colorado

This week I was able to complete the bedroom set I've been working on over the last few weeks. The king sized bed was the last project out of the set and it turned out amazing! The color on all the pieces was a custom gray that I mixed myself and black antiquing. My client also sent me a picture of the finished products all set up in her room!

Another fun project from this week was a custom teal corner hutch. My client brought mercury glass knobs to swap out the outdated hardware. I did a very light antiquing wash over the teal and lightly distressed. I love how it turned out!

Nursery and Kids Furniture Denver, Colorado - Nursery and Kids Interior Room Design

Some of my favorite furniture pieces to do are custom orders for kids rooms and nurseries! I love it because A) it usually involves bold color and B) clients are more inclined to go outside the box and get creative with it! It is so fun for me to be involved in these client projects because I get a peak into their lives. I get to learn about their little ones, come up with a creative design and deliver a truly unique one of a kind piece for their spaces! Here are just a few examples of some of the fun designs I have had the pleasure of doing over the last few years! -Vanessa

Custom Painted Furniture Projects - February 12-18th Denver, Colorado

Great week completing some personal projects as well as client pieces! First up was a kids table and chairs set. This desk was a vintage solid wood table from the Denver Public Schools and I knew it would be perfect as a farmhouse style kids set. I sanded and re-stained the tops with slightly distressed white bases. I purchased a set of bar stools that I had my husband cut down to size and it paired so cute with it!

Next up was a nightstand revamp. I love repeat customers and this client had purchased a nightstand a few years ago for her older daughter so she came back to have another done for her littlest! She wanted something fun but that she could grow with so I suggested a neutral palette with stenciled variation drawers. She loved it and it fits perfect in her pre-teen room.

My third project was a set of French provincial end tables. I had this set in inventory for a while but wasn't sure what color I wanted to do. I felt inspired with the clean, simplistic farmhouse style and chose to do antique style cup pulls in oil rubbed bronze. I love the way the white made the ornate details pop!

Lastly, was a rustic iron and metal wall art piece. Funny story about this was the metal scroll work came from a coffee table that a friend and I accidentally broke the glass on. I don't know what we were thinking when we decided to lean the huge piece of glass against her truck on a windy day. Needless to say the glass shattered but we took the scroll piece out, painted it turquoise and mounted it on barn wood remnants I had from a accent wall project I did in my house. It turned out so cool! The client that purchased it is actually going to use it as a headboard for her teen daughters room, which I thought was such a unique idea!  -Vanessa

French Provincial Shabby Chic Furniture January 22-28th Denver, Colorado

This week I worked on some really cool shabby chic French provincial style furniture pieces. These were all client owned pieces that I refinished to her customized look. This particular client is renovating their master bedroom. When we had our design consult we talked about a few different finishes that would compliment the waisncoting she was putting against the main accent wall. We settled on a greige color (grayish brown) with antiquing. I love the versatility of this color because it goes so well with both browns and grays. For the dresser she really liked the wood stained top idea to contrast against the nightstands. In addition, with all the bedroom pieces I sanded back to a white finish to add extra contrast. Lastly, was a bathroom vanity that she decided to go with a custom mixed navy with gold accents and hardware. I love how all these pieces came out! I cannot wait to see them in her space! -Vanessa
